Most Nigerian university projects follow five chapters. Here's what each one does, so you know where you're going.
- 1Chapter one: introductionThe background, the problem, your objectives and research questions, the scope and why the study matters. Keep the problem specific and your objectives measurable.
- 2Chapter two: literature reviewWhat others have found on your topic, organised by themes, plus your theoretical or conceptual framework. End by showing the gap your study fills.
- 3Chapter three: methodologyYour research design, population, sample size and sampling technique, instruments, and how you'll check validity and reliability and analyse the data.
- 4Chapter four: results and discussionPresent your findings in tables or charts, interpret them, and compare them with the studies in chapter two.
- 5Chapter five: summary and recommendationsSummarise the findings, draw conclusions that answer your research questions and make practical recommendations.
- 6Work with your supervisorSend drafts early and respond to every correction. A research tutor can help you understand comments and prepare for your defence.
